Stinger Mantis Engine Room

This is the lower level of the Engine Room inside the Stinger Mantis. We went for a submarine feeling which is much more utilitarian than the more clean and luxurious living quarters. All the interiors actually fit in the real hull 3D model of the ship.

Using 3D can have the advantage of showing moving pieces and narrowness of space

The top of the Mantis engine room had to house the workbench (on the far end) where the hero would make light sabers upgrades. The room also had to have a makeshift bed for Cal to sleep in. It had to feel uncomfortable, noisy and utilitarian.

Using 3D gave the team an opportunity to get a real idea for how the space would eventually feel in the game. It allowed us to take early decisions as to what was going to work and what should be discarded.
